The mantra you will receive is the vibration the universe was created at the time and place of your birth, and it is calculated following Vedic mathematic formulas. When you silently repeat your mantra in meditation, it creates a vibration that helps you slip into space between your thoughts, into the complete silence that is sometimes referred to as “the gap.” Your mind is no longer caught up in its noisy internal chatter and is instead exposed to its own deepest nature: pure awareness.
Meditation is a natural process for restoring balance and harmony. Meditating creates a state of restful alertness, where we restore our memory of wholeness and allow the body to re-enliven its own healing mechanisms. You will know you’re benefiting from meditation when you notice the effects of meditation in your daily life (e.g. you’re happier, more relaxed, less stressed, less judgmental, or feeling more bliss). You may also find that people around you will notice the positive effects your meditation is having on your mind-body-spirit before you do.
Meditation is a natural process for restoring balance and harmony in the physiology by re-enlivening the body’s healing mechanisms. It helps us to restore wholeness within our mind-body system. Many people have noticed dramatic improvements in their lives and in their health situations as a result of their meditation practices. However, meditation should not be looked upon as a cure for any particular health problem, and students should not discontinue the advice or medication that they are currently receiving from a healthcare practitioner.
Primordial Sound Meditation is not a religion. It is a spiritual practice that takes our level of awareness to the level of our spirit, which is the same spirit that connects everything in creation. In fact, many people of different religions now practice Primordial Sound Meditation without any conflict with their religious views or practices, and they have found that the meditation enhances their religious beliefs and practices. Primordial Sound Meditation ultimately enables us to enjoy what we do in our lives more fully, including our religious practices.
Primordial sounds are the most basic, essential sounds of nature. The wind blowing through the trees, the waves crashing on the shore, and the laughter of children are all forms of primordial sounds. We use primordial sound mantras because they are the natural sounds that the universe makes during different times throughout the lunar cycle; they have the effect of taking our awareness within to the most essential state of our being.
Even though meditation should not be considered a cure by itself, research has shown it to be beneficial for a wide range of health issues. As many studies show, a regular meditation practice offers numerous health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, strengthening the immune system, releasing stress and fatigue, improving relationships, having greater intuition, and feeling greater vitality. As stress is greatly eliminated through Primordial Sound Meditation, our minds and bodies begin to function with maximum effectiveness, creating health, vitality, and happiness. In fact, meditating for half an hour can provide more psychological rest than a full night’s sleep (though should not be used as a substitution). As you meditate on a regular basis, you will notice an increased sense of well being, as well as greater energy and creativity.
Absolutely nothing. We follow the mantra: “Do less. Achieve more.” Meditation is the most direct action you can do to facilitate greater health and well-being for the mind and body. All you need to do to practice Primordial Sound Meditation is sit down and close your eyes.
When you learn Primordial Sound Meditation, you will receive a personal mantra. A mantra is a specific sound or vibration that helps you to enter deeper levels of awareness. A Sanskrit term that translates as “vehicle of the mind,” a mantra truly is a vehicle that takes you into quieter, more peaceful levels of the mind.
The Primordial Sound Meditation technique is based on the ancient Vedic wisdom and traditions from India. This knowledge was revived and updated by Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. David Simon, and Roger Gabriel so that it could be easily and effectively practiced in the modern world. This technique, and the mantras it uses, have been tried and tested for thousands of years for their effectiveness and benefits.
Primordial Sound Meditation and other mantra-based techniques have a very similar goal: to take our awareness to a very quiet level where we eventually slip beyond thought into pure silence, pure awareness. The mantras used in Primordial Sound Meditation and the method by which they are selected are different from any other technique of mantra-based meditation. In addition, the method of instruction is different from that of Transcendental Meditation (TM).
There are other practices of meditation, which often help us to focus on specific aspects of healing and require us to focus on an external or sensory source (sound, breath, music, etc). These include general mantra-based meditations, breath meditations, and guided meditations. These alternative meditation practices are great supplements to the Primordial Sound Meditation practice. We often supplement our Primordial Sound Meditation practice with Oprah and Deepak’s 21-Day Meditation Experiences.
We each have between 60,000 and 80,000 thoughts a day—unfortunately, many of them are the same thoughts we had yesterday, last week, and last year. The mind tends to get stuck in repetitive thought loops that squeeze out the possibility for new ideas and inspiration. Meditation is a powerful practice for going beyond habitual, conditioned thought patterns into a state of expanded awareness. We connect to the field of infinite possibilities or pure potentiality, and we open to new insights, intuition, creativity, and ideas.
Primordial Sound Meditation isn’t about forcing your mind to be quiet; it’s about experiencing the silence that’s already there and making it a part of your life. Silence is the birthplace of happiness, creativity, and infinite possibilities. From this field of pure potentiality, we get our bursts of inspiration, our most intuitive thoughts, and our deepest sense of connection to the universe. Practicing meditation on a daily basis allows you to weave silence and stillness into your mind and body to create a life of greater compassion and fulfillment. Even when your mind is filled with agitated thoughts, you still have access to the inner stillness and calm that always lies beneath the choppy surface of thought and emotion.
Primordial Sound Meditation is a silent practice where we use our personal “bija,” seed sound, or primordial sound that was resounding in the universe at the time and location of our birth. The purpose of using our personal “bija” is to more effectively bring us to a state of silence, inner truth, awareness, and being. It is in this state where we may slip into “the gap” and tap into the field of infinite possibilities. Through the Primordial Sound Meditation program, we cultivate inner awareness and incorporate four core intentions of mind-body-spiritual health: a joyful, energetic body; a loving, compassionate heart; a reflective, alert mind; and a lightness of being. Primordial Sound Meditation ultimately enables us to experience what we do in our lives more fully, with more awareness, and with more joy.
